Reddit Marketing for Small BusinessesReddit marketing
When people want an honest recommendation, they add "reddit" to the search.
Reddit is where people go to ask other people: which plumber to call, whether a quote is fair, which salon actually listens. Reddit marketing makes sure that when your customers look there, they find your business described well, by people who've used it and by you answering questions properly.
01 — Why Reddit now
Reddit threads show up in Google
Google often shows Reddit discussions for recommendation and "is it worth it" searches, and a useful thread can keep ranking for years.
AI assistants read Reddit
When someone asks ChatGPT or Google's AI answers for a recommendation, the replies often draw on Reddit discussions. Being part of those conversations helps you get named.
People trust people more than ads
A reply from someone who's used your business carries more weight than anything you could say about yourself. Reddit is where those replies live.

04 — How I work on Reddit
Reddit punishes anything that looks like marketing. So the work follows four rules.
- One real, disclosed account. No fake accounts and no posing as a customer.
- No buying upvotes, no fake reviews and no coordinated posting.
- Each community's rules come first. Many ban self-promotion, so the mention has to be earned.
- Help first. A reply that only exists to sell gets ignored or removed.
These are also Reddit’s own rules. Breaking them gets accounts banned and businesses called out, which is the opposite of the point.
05 — Questions
- Will Reddit marketing get my business banned?
- Not when it's done properly. Accounts get banned for spam, fake accounts and vote manipulation, and I don't do any of those. Everything is posted from a disclosed account and within each community's rules.
- Do I have to write the posts myself?
- No. I find the threads, draft the replies in your voice and post them. For technical questions in your trade I'll check the answer with you first, because it has to be right.
- How long does Reddit marketing take to work?
- Expect months, not weeks. Monitoring and reputation replies help straight away. Being the business people recommend by name builds up over time, one useful answer after another.
- Is Reddit right for a local business?
- Usually, yes. Most cities and many towns have an active subreddit where people ask for recommendations. If your area's community is quiet, I'll tell you and suggest a better channel.
- Do you run Reddit Ads?
- Yes, when they fit. Reddit Ads work best for online stores and offers with a clear audience, because you can target the communities where those buyers already talk. For most local businesses I start with organic work.
Reddit marketing sits inside filling the pipeline, alongside social media, ads and retargeting.
